The Warrnambool Prevention and Recovery Centre (PARC) is a new residential mental health service which opened its door in early 2018. The $4.8 million new purposebuilt centre has boosted and improved services for the community of Warrnambool and surrounding regions.
The facility includes 10 mental health beds, a large communal kitchen and dining/living areas, and therapeutic garden and outdoor spaces.
The Challenge
As a mental health facility, the products required for this project had to be suitable for a secure health environment while also providing a home-like and non-institutional setting. Anti-ligature products need to meet Department of Health and Human Services standards to be compliant providing safety and security in a normalised and patientcentred environment.
The Solution
The Wallgate, GalvinCare® and Safe-Cell® range provided the perfect solution for this project specialising in anti-ligature sanitaryware for the hospital, prison, and mental health sectors.
Robust, innovative, and high-quality standard, the Wallgate range features WC pans, showers, basins and vanity tops ideal for a mental health facility.
The Wallgate WC pans are anti-ligature and AS 1428.1 accessible compliant. They are made of vandal resistant, high grade solid surface material with a domestic appearance. It is compatible with a wide range of flushing methods.
The Wallgate Solid Surface Basins were installed to provide anti-ligature and durable solutions for a safer environment for patients while also reducing the risk of infection and being water efficient.
Australian Made AS/NZS 3718 approved, GalvinCare® Mental Health Anti-Ligature Diverter Assembly with Assisted Paddle Handle is designed for easy operation and is vandal resistant. Our GalvinCare® range met all the requirements for the specialised care for mental health patients.
Galvin Safe-Cell® Prison Multi-Grip Wall Top Assembly was installed to minimise the risk of self-harm and suicide. Australian Made and AS/NZS 3718 approved, it has an antiligature design which is easy to clean and maintain.
As a result of the products installed the facility is now 100% anti-ligature providing a safe environment for patients, their families, and staff. We can provide efficient and innovate solutions for any mental healthcare project.
