Recent changes to the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) guidelines have seen the DET standards updated to improve water quality outcomes, for new and refurbished Victorian DET assets.
Commencing February 2019 and following careful deliberation by the VSBA, Principal Design Consultants, Services Engineers and Building Contractors for VSBA and school led projects are required to install plumbing products and fittings that are “Lead Free” or “Safe”. These products may include those manufactured from Stainless Steel, Copper, Plastic and Copper Alloys.
Galvin Engineering’s range of Australian WaterMark approved, Stainless Steel and Lead-Free DR Brass tapware solutions, utilising GalvinClear® technology, not only meet the VSBA’s improved Quality Standards but provide better and long term, water quality outcomes for your next project.
We are passionate about Water Solutions for a Healthier Environment, to discuss the VSBA practice note along with solutions to meet the new guidelines,

1 As ‘lead free’ is not currently defined by law in Australia and New Zealand, we have based our definition on s1417 of the USA’s Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the relevant US standards NSF61 / NSF372. The SDWA defines ‘lead free’ as “not more than a weighted average of 0.25% lead when used with respect to the wetted surface of pipes, pipe fittings, plumbing fittings and fixtures”
