The aim of the Better Bedroom Initiative is to raise awareness of good mental health design, stimulating debate and innovation and moving design and the service user environment to the next level. Commissioned by the DIMHN and project managed by Oxford Architect’s Matthew Balaam Wallgate’s 'normal looking' anti-ligature sanitaryware was chosen as part of a “Dragon’s Den” approach to specifying products (see DIMHN’s website www.dimhn.org/better-bedroom).
Wallgate’s anti-ligature fixed-seat WC, vanity top basin, taps, shower and controls are part of DIMHN’s Better Bedroom 2 launched at the Exhibition and next showing at The Mental Health and Dementia Facilities Forum (22 & 23 September 2015 – Whittlebury Hall, Northamptonshire) and the Healthcare Estates Conference (20 & 21 October 2015 – Manchester Central).
